The Hakaider Shot (ハカイダーショット, Hakaidā Shotto)[1] is a large silver multi-barreled handgun used by Hakaider in the Kikaider series.
Appearances[]
Android Kikaider[]
In the TV series Android Kikaider, the Hakaider Shot fires high-frequency bullets that can sever any machinery, capable of destroying Androidmans or DARK Destruction Corps like Aka Jirai Gama with a single shot. When not in use, it is stored in the left boot. When firing, it adopts a unique shooting posture by stabilizing the right arm under the left hand. Saburo (as Hakaider) typically only uses it for intimidation or to prevent escape when facing Kikaider, who doesn't use projectile weapons, except for an exception in episode 41. Similarly, Gill (as Gill-Hakaider) also uses the Hakaider Shot, but his tactics differ, often exploiting Ichiro's vulnerabilities or attacking from behind, reflecting his distinct personality. However, when Eisuke Toge took the gun and fired it at him, it caused him to scatter.
02[]
In the manga Kikaider 02, the gun used by Saburo. It fires bullets containing computer viruses and is usually stored in the thigh area.
Hakaider[]
In the movie Mechanical Violator Hakaider, it takes the form of a shotgun. Its bullets are the same as the Arm Shot equipped on the right arm. It is capable of precision shooting with high penetration power. In the story, just one shot fired from outside the Senate's headquarters was enough to shut down its central functions. In Last Judgement, it's capable of loading four different types of bullets with varying power and capacity. It's usually stored in a holster attached to Ryo's beloved vehicle, Guilty.
REBOOT[]
In the movie Kikaider REBOOT, it's typically stored in a holster attached to the left leg. Additionally, it is a linear gun, which can fire armor-piercing rounds or shotgun shells, allowing for selection between long or short range, as well as wide or narrow spread, enabling instant optimal shooting for annihilation.
Trivia[]
- Originally, the prop featured a 10-inch heavy barrel made entirely of stainless steel, but during the mid-term filming of Kikaider 01, it was dropped during a trampoline action sequence, resulting in damage. As a result, a new 3/8-inch version was crafted. However, this later iteration of the Hakaider Shot was reported missing during a performance in Hawaii and remained unaccounted for[2].
- While Kenichi Muraeda refined REBOOT Hakaider's overall design, he wasn't tasked with redesigning the Hakaider Shot. Another individual was responsible for its design.[3]
