Nobuhiko Komyoji (光明寺 信彦, Kōmyōji Nobuhiko), also known as Dr. Komyoji (光明寺博士, Kōmyōji Hakase), is a renowned figure in both robotics and medicine, serving as a guest professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. At 45 years old, he has a somewhat nervous demeanor and sports a neatly parted hairstyle, giving off the impression of a serious and straight-laced scientist. However, he also possesses stylish hobbies such as playing the guitar and trumpet.
Despite his professional demeanor, Dr. Komyoji has a playful side and enjoys practical jokes. He occasionally sneaks out of his laboratory to work part-time at a hot dog stand or dons a security guard uniform to surprise his colleagues at the university entrance.
Dr. Komyoji's groundbreaking work includes the development of artificial muscles using shape-memory alloy microcoils, which provide flexibility similar to human muscles. This innovation allows for the creation of bipedal robots capable of agile movement. Under the guise of developing Zero Diver and Fugitive From Hell, he secures development funding from DARK to create Kikaider.
